General Motors and Chrysler Present - Warren 50th Birthday Bash

The City of Warren proudly announces the talent lineup for the General Motors - Chrysler 50th Birthday Bash weekend which takes place September 21- 23, 2007 at the new Warren Downtown Center City Square. The music encompasses something for every taste from rock to country to rap and brings an American Idol together with rock legends Blue Oyster Cult and Foghat while showcasing the best of local and national acts.

The free, three-day family festival includes free live concerts compliments of the Detroit Free Press featuring Blue Oyster Cult and Foghat on Friday presented by WCSX 94.7. On Saturday, 106.7 The Fox presents Kellie Pickler of American Idol. She is preceded by Juice Newton. Sunday's national headliner will be announced after September 2 on the sponsoring radio station WRIF 101.1. All concerts are performed on the Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals Stage in front of the new Warren City Hall.

Musical acts with local roots include Pasman's Supersession, Eddie Leighton Project with Steve Kostan on Friday, the Twistin' Tarantulas, The Wrenfields, Red Hill, Willie Nash and the Forbes Brothers on Saturday and Matt Austin, Soul Circus and the Howling Diablo's on Sunday.

In addition to the music, the event features a multi media art event entitled Totally "Art"rageous fine art show running Friday through Sunday, a carnival sponsored by Art Van furniture running Thursday through Sunday, the General Motors fireworks scheduled for Friday evening.

The festivities will begin at Noon on Thursday when the Art Van Furniture carnival opens and continues on Friday September 21 at 4:00 PM. The day concludes at 11:00 PM with fireworks. Saturday September 22 will be the rain day for the fireworks. Saturday activities start at noon with the Warren Idol Winners and Warren Community Chorus. Free concerts run in afternoon through 11:00 PM.

On Sunday September 23 events begin at 2:00 PM include events for kids offered by Radio Disney including the Radio Disney D Tour with interactive games, dancing contests and prizes followed by national acts My Allowance and T-Squad.

Sunday afternoon culminates with the WRIF Muscle Car Show. Entrants can win prizes including "Best in Show", "Best Engine", "Best Paint" and "Best Interior" and one will get to include their ride at the WRIF booth during the 2008 Autorama. All entertainment, including the carnival, will close at 10:00 PM on Sunday night.
